  2. A great friend and colleague in advancing the prime lamb industry from the doldrums to the profitable industry it has been since 2000. I knew that Sandy would continue to lead the prime lamb and sheep industry to greater heights when he took over from me as President of Sheepmeat Council in 1993. We combined to convince NSW and Victorian growers to put more dollars into promotion and market development and with the Australian Meat and Livestock Corporation under Dick Austen’s vision the whole industry developed the faster growing large lamb which was more profitable for everyone in the industry. Thanks Jeanette for lending him to us and Robyn and I pass on our condolences.

  5. A beautiful tribute today to a wonderful Beaufort district identity. Sandy was always welcoming and loved a chat when we returned to Beaufort for special occasions over the last 40 years. We give thanks for Sandy’s contribution to the Beaufort community as a volunteer in many organisations. As sheep producers we appreciated Sandy and Jeanette’s advocacy for all farmers. A wonderful friend to the extended Russell family. Deepest sympathy to Jeanette, Annette, Naomi, David and families. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
