  1. Aunt Dot
That’s how we remember her, most of us knew her and called her by that name. A lovely lady who was known for her welcoming persona and her love for all the animals. Those that visited her would recall that the cats and dogs would have the run of the place and like it or not we were
All visitors including any friends of the family.
Even though they were not regular visitors, we were made very welcome.
Aunt Dot would travel anywhere to visit and see family even travelling with my mother Lily to Tasmania to see us when we lived there for a while,we all had a great time there.
We often forget these times in our life and take things for granted, please do not.
Life is too short, so make sure you catch up more regularly with loved ones and friend’s.
So be more like Aunt Dot while you are still healthy enough to travel.Make it happen.
In closing I would like to say what a wonderful job both Aunt Dot and Uncle Ken did in bringing up the Blake kids which led to the extended Blake family and our thoughts are with all of you today.
Lots of Love from the extended Clark family

  2. Dear Dot (Aunt Dot)
What a wonderful lady, we all loved visiting the Blakes.
You were made so welcome and nothing was too much for Aunt Dot, she always had a welcoming smile, food and drink to offer. Steph and I lived with them for a few weeks when we returned to Melbourne from Ballarat, we were treated like princesses. I used to go each Christmas Eve for a drink before I had Ebony, and always had a wonderful time. As our family grew we went without seeing them for years, the last time was when John came over and we had a family reunion at the races.
Sadly we missed many of Dot and Ken’s grandchildren grow up.
Dot will be sadly missed, but I’m sure she would be thrilled to meet up again with her soulmate Uncle Ken.
My sincere sympathies to all of Dots family and extended family.
RIP Dot. Chris Clark and family. 🥰💕💕🫂😘

  10. This is a slightly edited draft of ullage I had written and made a video of. It was meant to be shared at the funeral, unfortunately for some unknown reason it wasn’t shown, so I thought I’d share it here.

I’m joined here by my wife Melanie and our two girls Ruby Marie DOROTHY Veronica and Lucy Matilda
Olive MAY, Mum will always be with them in their hearts and we’ve made sure in their names as well.

She was always happy to have visitors, especially on a Sunday.
You’ve no doubt heard of, or experienced one of her roasts. The thing was, with 4 boys and extended family, which pretty much meant anyone that walked through the door at dinner time, mum had always cooked for a crowd and she never learnt to cook for just two, as such, all too often there was way too much left over…

We’ve been abroad about 11 years now, there were plans in place for mum to visit us over the last couple of years, unfortunately that never eventuated. But I think that really shows that she wasn’t going to let her advanced years get in the way of an adventure! She had about 9-10 years ago visited us and during that trip we managed to pop over to the UK to visited her sister Aunty Dink.
It was like watching the video of the two elephants recognising each other after years apart, it was beautiful, it was also the last time they saw each other, as our gorgeous Aunt Dink passed a few short years later. That trip and how much that must have meant to each of them, is even more poignant to me now, knowing I’ll never see mum again.

It was on this trip though, that a memory was made that will stay with me for ever. We were at Gatwick airport and had somehow managed to be late for our flight out, with over a hundred metres to make it to the gates before they closed, the race was on!!
I had one child in my arms, Melanie had the other and mum was left to fend for her self, I can still hear the klack klack klack of her walking stick as she broke out into a stride and managed to keep up and make a flying finish through the gates before they closed. Poor mum, she still had to wait another 2 hours before we’d landed and left the airport in Frankfurt before she could break out the smokes !! Not sure I was ever forgiven for that !

We’ve returned home to Australia as often as possible, and of course that has meant spending at least a week or two each trip with mum, we wanted to make sure the girls know their nana and shared a bond with her, which thankfully they do.

Our trips inevitably were during the hot summer months, as such one of the first things I’d pick-up upon arrival was a bottle of ‘Invalid stout’ and some Lemonade. You see mum has always been a tea drinker, leaning towards coffee in the later years. But on those long, warm summer evenings, I’d make us a Port-a-gaff (Stout and Lemonade), which was actually my Fathers drink of choice that mum and I had developed a taste for, and we’d sit out side sipping our drinks and chatting about the past, present and future, till the mossies drove us back inside.

Quit often on those nights, we’d be planning the Op-shop tour for the next day, mum loved the old Op-shops as much as we do. We’d be up bright and early to miss the heat of the day, pile into what ever car was available and hit as many shops as we could before mum was exhausted, as the years progressed we managed fewer and fewer shops, but mum’s enthusiasm for the tours never whined. Often the trips would finish with mum modelling all manner of cloths and an assortment of questionable hats that the girls had decided were just perfect for Nana.

These are just a few of the special memories I have of my mum that make me smile, I’m sure everyone here has their own reasons to smile when thinking about her. I invite you to think of these as you join us to morn her passing but more so to celebrate our her life.

And Mum, I’m so going to miss our Sunday chats…
